Unity Addicts Challenge

It's Wednesday and time for another Unity Addicts Challenge! This week I picked our challenge and it is to make a masculine themed birthday card but add a piece of chipboard/grunge board to it.

Here is what I came up with using a piece of grunge board

I stamped the birthday cake image on a pice of grunge board and cut it out. I used Tim Holtz distress inks and colored the cake with copics. My pattern papers are from the Tim Holtz paper stack called "Lost and Found". I also actually finished the inside, something I hardly ever do:

On the grunge board image i also added some crackle paint - Clear Rock Candy to add some distress and cracks to it. All my edges I distressed with a distresser as well.

Be sure to swing by the Unity Challenge forum over at SCS after 10 am this morning to see the details and play along with us.

If you have a challenge idea come share them with us in the Challenge Idea thread, you just may be our next guest!!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's Saturday and time for another Just Us Girls Challenge! This week the design team was able to work with one of the My Time Made Easy templates called Tuck-ered Out. Here is what I came up with:

I used papers by Stampin Up. The flower is one that I made and have been making recently. It's the same ones I made for my wreath from yesterday's post HERE.

Be sure to swing on by the Just Us Girls Design Team as I know they will have cooked up something fabulous to show you.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

Well it's Friday again and time for another fun Friends with Flair Friday Unity Style! This week I started making some of those cool Tim Holtz inspired roses. I found this great tutorial on youtube HERE. They are alot of fun to make. So I started just for fun making them and made a bunch of autumn themed ones then had to decided what I wanted to do with them. Here is what I did with them:

I made this cute little Autumn themed wreath and added a picture in the middle! My base is one of those round white styrofoam rings that you can get at the craft store. So I glued all the flowers on the ring and ended up with a hole in the middle so I cut a piece of brown cardstock to cover the back and added on pop dots the picture of my kids. Makes a great little fall decoration. The sentiment is Unity not sure which kit it was a part of though. A while back I won a little random prize pack of Unity Stamps from someone having blog candy. If anyone knows which kit it's from let me know. I will have to go take a peek in the Unity store and find it.

Well that's it for now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Treehouse Challenge Thursday

Welcome to another Treehouse Thursday Challenge. This week our challenge is called "For the Teacher".

I wanted to use some new images that are coming up in the next release on Oct 1 and here is what I came up with:

I thought a fun ornament and little gift bag for it would be appropriate for a teacher. The bag is a template from My Time Made Easy. I made the flower which is based on Tim Holtz's technique. I referred to this great tutorial on Youtube HERE. They are so much fun to make I've been making lots of them lately for projects.

Well I hope you will come over to the Treehouse Blog and play along with us this week.

Now be sure to swing on by the Treehouse DT for lots of great inspiration!

Just Us Girls Saturday Challenge

Welcome to color challenge week with JUST US GIRLS! This week our hostess is the fabulous Kathryn and she picked our colors: Green, Red, Black and a neutral! Fun stuff!!

So I had to go the Christmas route not only because of the red and green but I get to play with a sneak peek from the upcoming Treehouse Stamps release and it's an awesome image.

Here is what I did:

Here is a close up of that great image:

I think my colors are obvious the green besides in the tree I added green gems to the bottom left corner and I used white flock by Stampin Up for this beard and fur.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

Today I have an 8x8 canvas scrapbook page to share with you.

The base is a canvas I picked up at a hardware store. It's a painters canvas which I just cut to size and neaten out the edges with glue on the back. This I mounted on a black piece of cardstock. The scallops are paper but the pattern blue over the scallops is a fabric. The flowers are paper glowers by Prima with glitter in the middle. The sentiment of course is from Unity Stamp Co.

Close up of the flowers:

Here you can also see the texture of the canvas.

Well that's it for now!

Unity Addicts Challenge

It's Wednesday and time for another Unity Addicts Challenge. This week our guest for the challenge is Lisa and she challenged us to make a background without using stamps. So think paint, embossing, inking etc.

For my card I didn't do my entire background more like pattern paper. But I used alcohol inks to make a pink and green plaid background or "pattern paper". Here is what I came up with:

Be sure to swing by the Unity Challenge forum over at SCS after 10 am this morning to see the details and play along with us.

If you have a challenge idea come share them with us in the Challenge Idea thread, you just may be our next guest!!

Just Us Girls Saturday Challenge

It's Saturday and that means time for another Just Us Girls Saturday Challenge!! This week we have an amazing sponsor: JustRite Stampers®

Here is a little something about JustRite Stampers:

JustRite Stampers has a huge collection of Christmas and holiday stamp sets from which to choose. Their entire collection can be viewed here. They also offer the full line of Memento full-sized ink pads and now a selection of 96 expertly-chosen Copic Sketch markers which may be purchased as singles, trios or quads! The number one question people have about Copic markers is which colors will work together nicely to give a great shading of color. Now the JustRite design team has done all the work for you -- their quad and trio sets are designed so that you can be assured they will work together to give you a perfect blending group! JustRite has a great 2-page reference guide you can download here.

This week JustRite has offered some amazing prizes to one lucky, randomly selected participant this week...

How totally awesome is that?? You HAVE to play along! This week is technique challenge week and the technique it the cracked glass technique!

You can find the tutorial for this fun technique HERE .

Here is what I came up with using the Groovy Snowmen and Christmas Nested Frames set.

Close up of my "cracked glass"

You can apply some ink over the cracks which would seep onto the paper for a more antique look. I tried that a bit but I don't' think it worked very well, maybe a little bit. Then I was worried about messing up my nice cracks so I left it alone. This was seriously the first time I did this technique but love it, very cool!

SO YOU NEED TO COME PLAY ALONG THIS WEEK. Here are some details:

How to play: You need to upload your project for this week's challenge to your online blog or public photo gallery. Leave a link that goes directly to your project in the Inlinkz form at the bottom of the JUGS post. If you upload to online galleries, please also use the keyword or tag, JUGS50. After you post to Inlinkz you can also leave a comment here.
Deadline to be considered for the weekly "Chic of the Week" is 9:00 PM EST on Thursday, September 16, 2010. The Inlinkz form will close at that time. Our top pick "Chic of the Week" will be announced on the following Friday morning.

Be sure to swing by the Jugs DT as I know they worked hard on their cracked glass creations and will have something beautiful to share with you!

Unity Friday Friends with Flair

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

This week I used the August Stampin Store Kit and stamped on a frame. I had plain wooden frames so I painted the base white, added some green and a layer of crackle paint. Stamped the leaves on and added a sentiment. The flowers are regular fake flowers from Michael's. It's from one of those small bunches you can get for a $1.00. I took them apart to I had just the fabric flower, added brads and there was my embellishment.

Well that's all for now!

Treehouse Challenge Thursday

Welcome to another fun Treehouse Thursday Challenge! This week we are recycling! As a crafter how many times have you looked at a tissue box, pop tart box, coffee tin and thought I should keep this? I do it all the time! At one point I was collecting everything which is not a great idea so I had to cut some loose. But this challenge is perfect for recycling that old tin or box.

Here is what I did with a pop tart box:

Closeup of flowers:

This is using the Treehouse Stamps digi set called Bountiful Blessings. My pattern papers are from an old Cosmo Cricket pack. I thought this box was a fun little box to store some Copic Markers perhaps. It's the perfect size as a "pencil" holder for your desk!

Come join the fun and play along with us. Be sure to link your creation up to the Treehouse Blog and show us what you did.

Then be sure to swing by the Treehouse Design Team to see what they cooked up for this fun challenge.

Gina K Sketch Challenge at Stamp TV

I hope you had a fabulous weekend. In some ways it's sad to see summer end but I won't miss the heat! I LOVE fall, the cool crisp air I hope it comes this way soon!

I did this week's sketch challenge at Stamp TV. I used one of Melanie's sets, an older one called Jumping for Joy.

I actually made the seal in 3 dimensional layers! Here is a close up:
My Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Gina K set called Inside and Out.

That's it for now!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

This week I played with some canvas again! Gotta love it! Here is what I did:

This is also for this week's Unity Addicts Challenge! The challenge this week is to make an ATC and add it to a card! COME JOIN US AND PLAY ALONG IN THE UNITY SCS FORUM.

My ATC is the actual canvas. I measured the canvas to the size of an ATC (2.5 x 3.5) then layered it on turquoise paper. I went with raw canvas (no gesso primer) and just used 2 glimmer mists on it and then in black stazon stamped the sentiment from the Donna Downey for Unity Kit called She. I re-stamped the sentiment on paper using different colored Memento inks and cut out believe to adhere over the believe on the canvas.

Closeup:

I just love love this quote!

That's it for now!
