Unity Stamp Storage

So there has been chatter in the Unity Forums about storage of Unity stamps. So I decided since I recently started getting my stuff organized I would share some photos etc.

I love those green (or they came in pink) document boxes that Target used to carry. I have not seen them in a long time so I'm bummed, but hoping they come back. Anyhow, I have about 11 of them to fill and those are perfect for storing stamps.

Here are some photos of them:

Here it is open and holding 2 Unity KOTM kits!

Here they are in a file crate under my desk:

You may notice I labeled the boxes, you can see the first one number 1. I used a scallop punch and using a maker added the numbers and taped the cut out using packing tape to the box. Of course all the numbers are in the same spot so I can find them easy in the file.

I am running out of green Target boxes and needed something else. While at a stamping convention I picked up (not enough of course) those small cling sheets (8 1/2 x 5 3/4). These are the ones that will fit into small binders. I think GKD carries these as well. Unity carries the Scraponizer cases. I already had all these green boxes so I haven't gone to those yet. So these smaller cling sheets can hold "older" Unity KOTM and a few other Unity Kits. But I needed something to store them in and found this box at Staples. It's a file box (10 x 5 9/10 x 3 9/10). It actually said on the label perfect for holding greeting cards, recipes & more. My staples only had two of them so I got both. Go figure I'll bet they don't' carry these anymore!

Now how do I know where everything is. This part is still under organization but here is what I am doing. For all my older kits I have those little sheets showing all the images in the kit so I scanned them all to create index sheets. In some cases if I had random stamps I stamped a bunch of images on a sheet. Then next to each kit I put a number, which indicates which box that kit is in. Right now it's all pretty random since I keep changing things up to make more room in my green boxes :-)

Here is an example:

You can see how I already crossed stuff out. The ones that say box indicate the sets I switched over to the Staples box instead of the green boxes they were originally in.

But I really think this will work out. Even with it the way it is, it has been working for me. I can easily just flip through the images on paper to decide what I want to use and easily find the corresponding box. Right now I keep all the "index" sheets in a folder.

I also have a bunch of the wood mounted slide stamps. These I have not "catalogued" yet but I'll share photos of where they are stored. This isn't even all of them actually. I set aside some of the holiday images and ones I don't' use all the time in a third box and didn't take a picture of that one. Actually I think it was more like I didn't have room.

Those Ikea boxes are great but won't fit the really big stamps, so I just put some in a random box I have. Organizing these guys better and pulling out the ones I put "away" is next on my list.

Well that's all I have for now!

If you have any tips to share I'd love to hear about it!

Till later.....

Just Us Girls - Template Challenge

This week it's template week with Just Us Girls and I got to pick the challenge. I have always loved apron cards! I remember making them all the time many years ago and just recently getting back into it. It's a fun one you don't want to miss. There is a fabulous apron template HERE at Mirkwood Designs. Mirkwood also has a great blog HERE you don't want to miss.

Here is what I came up with:

So I went with the basic arpon template but I didn't create the slit in front per say. Instead I used pattern paper (DCWV) to create a pocket in which I put a little tag to match. I also created a fold which wraps to the back and creates a second pocket.

Back:

My images are all by Unity Stamp Co from their June Kit of the Month. My solid paper is by Stampin Up.

Be sure to swing on by Mirkwood Designs and check out this fabulous template to play along with JUGS. This is such a fun versatile template to play with.

Then hop on over to the JUGS DT to check out what they did for this fun project.

Unity Stamp Company

It's Friday again and time for Unity Friends With Flair. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog today and see the list of the Unity Friends participating! You will have a chance to win a bunch of random Unity stamps if you find the FLAIR in a participating blog.

This week I decided to get scrappy! I used the Unity Addict's Challenge for this week. This week the challenge is Summertime Fun. I posted a layout of my daughter at the beach but felt it was only fair to make a layout of my son at the beach as well! (even though she is in the background here)

I used the June KOTM for this layout. My solid paper is Real Red by Stampin Up. The pattern papers was actually one cool 12 x 12 piece which I cut up and is by DCWV.

Come join us for Unity Addicts Challenges each week in the Unity Forum. I've also added a page here on my blog where I am listing all the challenges in one place with links to them.

And don't forget to swing on by ANGIE BLOM's blog as she is finishing off her Growing in Unity week today! There is a prize to be had which will be randomly picked from her comments this week.

Be sure to hop along to the Unity Blog and check out what the other Unity Friends came up with. Along the way be sure to look for the Friends with Flair Blinkie for a chance to win a bunch of Unity Stamps!!

Dog Days

Well it is certainly the dog days of summer! I really don't like this super hot weather, today I think it was about 93 degrees!! OH MY!

I decided while cool in the air conditioned house I'd make a card using the Treehouse Stamps Digi set called Dog Days of Summer. For this I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers and flipped it on it's side.

Closeup:

I digitally added the sentiments to the clouds then printed the image. I colored with copics and added stickles for some glitz! The solid papers are by Stampin up and the pattern by Basic Grey.

Well that's all for now!

Unity Addcits Challenge

It's time for another Unity Addict Challenge, won't you come play along with us? This week it's a time to get scrappy with your Unity/Ippity and make a layout using the theme "Summertime Fun". Never fear if you don't scrapbook pls join us anyhow by making a "Summertime Fun" card! All the deets are here in the Main Unity Forum.

Here is my layout, I used oldie Unity stamps.

Close up:

Now if you are a KOTM subscriber there are amazing stamps in that kit to make a summertime page or card. I should make a summertime fun layout with my son in it so I think using those new stamps is next on the list. LOL!

If you are a Unity Addict and want your creations in the spotlight swing on by the Unity Friends Forum and check out the Growing in Unity thread. Unity friend and addict Ramsey started this a long time ago, probably over a year and half now! Ramsey did a fabulous job but now is very busy to keep it up, so it's my turn! I'm happy to be helping out.

This week ANGIE BLOM is Growing In Unity and has two wonderful projects posted this week already! Be sure to check out the Unity Blog tomorrow as there will be a special GIU post featuring Angie!

That's it for now from Unity Addicts Land.

Be sure to stay tuned this week for some more fun Unity stuff as well as some fun stuff using my awesome TREEHOUSE DIGI STAMPS!!

Just Us Girls Color Challenge

It's Saturday and time for another fun JUGS challenge. This week we have a great color challenge with Alicia. Check out the yummy graphic above! The colors this week are: Chocolate, Light Pink and Vanilla.

I used a great flower from the current Unity Store KOTM (I actually grabbed mine from Crafty Steals). I made this card late last night actually so it turned out pretty simple. After I finished and go the photo taken I thought I really should have put something in the lower right corner like a sentiment. But it was late so I figured it was ok to just roll with it. I also used this week's Unity Hip Hop Sketch for my card.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday!

Unity Stamp Company

It's Friday again and time for Unity Friends With Flair. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog today and see the list of the Unity Friends participating! You will have a chance to win a bunch of random Unity stamps if you find the FLAIR in a participating blog.

This week I didn't make a card I tried something different using a small wooden frame from IKEA. I used the Unity Set "SHE" (for the quote) and an old KOTM (the flower) from way back!

I painted the frame first using a white acrlyic as a base. The pink paint is Metallic Lumiere in Pearl Magenta. Pattern paper from Cosmo Cricket DeLovely and solid cardstocks from Gina K. The flowers are Prima's from Michaels.

At first I was not sure if it was "turning" out ok but I really like the end result. It turned out better than I expected. I love when that happens. My first project was going to be stamping on canvas. I had this small canvas painted cool and ready to go but could not for the life of me get a clear enough image on the canvas so I gave up! Well for now at least. :-) I know one of the Ippity chicks did this recently so I should go see if there were pointers.

Be sure to hop along to the Unity Blog and check out what the other Unity Friends came up with. Along the way be sure to look for the Friends with Flair Blinkie for a chance to win a bunch of Unity Stamps!!

I don't usually babble on and on but I have a few fun things to share:

So there are some fun things going on in Unity Friends land over in the SCS forum. A very long time ago well over a year now, Ramsey started what was called Growing in Unity. It was were Unity friends (addicts) share on their blog a Unity project a day for a week. It was so popular and kept going and going. Recently Ramsey got very busy personally and has turned over the organization of it to me. If you love Unity and are interested come to the GROWING IN UNITY THREAD to check it out.

Also in the Unity friends forum I have started up the Unity Addicts Challenges again a few weeks ago. This also started over a year ago and it went on for more than a year, then I took a break. Now I brought it back so each week I'm posting a new challenge. This week's challenge: Christmas In June.

That's it for now!
