Queen Kat Royal Wedneday

It's Wednesday again and you know what that means, it's the Queen Kat Royal Wednesday Blog Hop! Get ready for a fun hop "VINTAGE" royal hop this week. That's right the challenge to the Royal Court was to making something vintage. Basically using the theme what vintage means to you. Is it a specific image, colors or design? Get ready because I know the Royal Court will knock your socks off.
If you came here from Queen Kat herself Vicki then you are on the right track. If not be sure to swing back to the QKD blog to start this awesome hop you won't want to miss a beat.

For this challenge my first thought is the sepia tone. You know the brown colors that are sort of "old-fashioned"? Did you ever take those antique photos at a carnival or fair? Where you dress up in old time clothes and they take your picture and it's printed in the sepia color? That's exactly the direction I went in, well minus the funny clothes. I altered a photo of my kids from almost 2 years ago and changed it to the sepia tone in my photo editing software. I pulled out some vintage type paper and my Timmy Holtz ink pads, here is what I came up with:

You can find all the images I used to stamp with, the background script, the sentiment on the photo and the libarary tag in the Queen Kat store and this is the perfect time to pick some up with a huge 35% off sale going on until June 29!
Now carry on and hop along to Andrea's blog for another one of her awesome vintage creations, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks for hopping with us today!

Here's To You Cowboy Ethan!

You may have seen my post HERE regarding this sweet little boy named Ethan. This brave little cowboy lost his battle with Neuroblastoma on June 12.

The following was written by Ethan's mom Alicia Weiman:

"Ethan was “the bestest boy ever” - sweet, lovable, witty, smart, and a true cowboy through and through. Ethan loved to be outside with his horse, Questions, and his “little ass”, Ranger. Ethan was a sharp dresser and always wore a button down shirt, blue jeans, “seat” belt, cowboy boots, and his black cowboy hat. Ethan always had a smile on his face and could bring a smile to all of those around. Ethan enjoyed many things during his short life here on earth - legos, riding the bus and going to school, swimming, watching cartoons and movies, playing the guitar and harmonica, playing dress up, going for bike rides and walks to the winery, hanging out with his friends, reading books, Casey’s taco pizza, and just loving life. Ethan was only here for a short time, but he touched the lives of many. May God Bless our Cowboy E!"

The lovely Lauren Meader teamed up with the fabulous Melissa Rodger of Pink Cat Studio to create a digital stamp set to honor Cowboy Ethan, called The Weiman Wranglers. All proceeds to this awesome set will go to the Make A Wish Foundation of Illinois. BE SURE TO RUN OVER TO THE PINK CAT STUDIO STORE TO CHECK IT OUT! IT IS TRULY FABULOUS!

Lauren's My Time To Create Design Team was honored when Melissa asked us to create some things using the new sets. These images are adorable!!

Here are a few things I made:

My Time To Create Challenge

This week for Lauren's My Time To Create Challenge is to use one of her Timeless Templates. I picked one of her new ones from the June release called Pack a Picnic. I had so much fun putting this together.

Part of the challenge was to make our own pattern paper, so I used some fun stuff by Clear & Simple Stamps and came up with this fun box:

Here is what I put inside:

I was trying to find some cool watermelon themed items at Wal-mart such as a dishtowel, washcloth or something of the sort but had no luck. In the end I think the candle and the sponge work ok. I might give this to a friend for her birthday as part of a gift.

Another view:

And a close up, can you tell I really enjoyed this one:

Hanna Stamps Guest Designer Call Submission

Hanna Stamps is currently having a call for some guest designers to fill slots over the next few months. I have loved Hanna for a long time, so I decided I had to give it a try. One (of the many) Riley's I have is the Garden Riley and I had a fun little idea for him. I made two things (although they could go together), one is an Apron Card and the second a fun little garden gift basket.

Garden Riley Apron Card:

Garden Riley Floral Fun Garden Gift Set:

I had alot of fun making these guys, especially with the orange and green colors. I colored Riley with Copic Markers. The apron card has a pocket in the back where you can store something fun. I have had the apron card template for many years now and I don't know what site I originally got it from. But I do remember way back when it was popular and I used to make them ALL the time. I figured for this fun garden project it would be awesome.

That's it for now.

Fundraiser for the Weinman Family

I don't know how to even say what I want to say for this post because it puts me to tears typing. A fellow DT member Alicia Weinman lost her little boy this past Friday. This adorable "cowboy" had been fighting neuroblastoma cancer for 2 years. As Alicia says in her Caringbridge Journal "heaven gained the greatest little boy ever!". May god bless Ethan in heaven.

Alicia is a fellow DT member of Lauren Meader's weekly challenge team and together we wanted to do something for the family. We have all decided to make donations to the family. In lieu of flowers the family asked for balloons for the service something which Ethan simply loved. I have set up a donation link on my sidebar if anyone would like to make a donation to the family.

Clear & Simple Take the Challenge

This month's Take the Challenge is called Hey Mister! It's time to discover your masculine side with stamping. We tend to lean more toward making cards and projects that are typically feminine, so for this month's challenge let's go masculine.

With Father's Day approaching, this would be a great time to work on a masculine card or gift. It may be for your father, husband, or any important man in your life. Be creative and let's see if you can get in touch with your masculine side this month.
Here is what I came up with using the Clear & Simple Stamps set called Believe in Words I:

I hope that you will come and play along with us. Be sure to swing by the CSS forum at Paper Craft Planet!

Don't forget that the DESIGN TEAM CALL for CLEAR & SIMPLE STAMPS ends on JUNE 8 so be sure to get your submission in soon! CLICK HERE for all the details!!
