Friends With Flair Friday

It's Friday and time for Friends with Flair Unity style.  This week guess what I don't have a journal page for you.  I actually worked on some cards for teachers.  My kids just finished school (yes we were late this year due to weather situations during the year).

Here is a card I made for the para professional who works in the library.  I help out in the school library I'm there all the time and the librarian and the "clerk" are so wonderful. They have classes in the library all the time and it's also the media (computer) center.

For this card I used an old Unity kit called Sew Cute:

Also I apologize but I never announced the winner from last week's art journal blog hop!  Oh my gosh!

The winner is SUE MORRIS!  Please contact me with your shipping information!

Sorry to be so brief this week.

Have a good one and thanks for stopping by!

I had these wood chip letters on hand as well as the Tim Holtz metal numbers and wanted to use them in my journal but wasn't sure how.

I added a bunch of Unity Stamp Co stamps to it in the background for the border and images to "represent" summer.

Letter and numbers close ups I stamped on them as well:

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Hey there!

TGIF and time for a little friends with flair!  Be sure to swing on by the Unity Blog to check out all the great stuff going on and to see all the friends with flair participants.

This week I played with these supplies as well as some stencils not shown:

The Unity stamps are:

enjoy explore believe
Donna Poppies
SHEscript
Worn Grid

Before I even start sharing my process I wanted to share what these pages looked like before I started:

These are 2 pages in my book that where clean my stencils on pages, then at some point I sprayed on them and now just said no no no.  SOOO what I did was add Stampin Up text paper on top of these backgrounds to start my new background.  Another way to do that is to just gesso your page.

Here is the process of my background being created:

First lots of stencils inks and sprays with the help of my 7 year old daughter:

Next Donna Poppies, check out the size of these guys:

I stamped them in black archival ink and didn't know what I wanted to do next.  So I took some water color crayons and did this pink and blue:

But quickly realized it looked awful!  So I pulled out my Christy Tominlinson 6x6 pattern papers and stamped the flower on a few of those and cut them out:

And here is what I came up with:

Well that's all for this week!  If you like mixed media and art journal play come join our facebook group called Mixed Up Media Chix - Art Journal Girlz!  We are going to do an art journal blog hop and if you want to join come on by!!!

Art Journal Tuesday - Layers of Life

Hey there!  Happy Tuesday!  I created a two page spread in my smaller journal.  This journal is actually a book turned into an art journal.

For this spread I decided to use some of my Unity Layers of Life stamps on it.

Here is just the background:

I started with a flesh tone acrylic paint as the base over my gesso.  Then added the ruler image from the May Layers of Life kit in different colors using the Ranger Archival inks.

Then I used hearts from the kit called "We Treasure You".  I colored them using my gelatos:

Both sides done:

The border is from the May Layers of Life and I colored them using watercolor crayons.

Here are the three kits I used:

Well thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls Technique and Sponsor

This week at Just Us Girls we have a great technique challenge and sponsor.  The challenge is to use washi tape and our sponsor is Modes4u.

Here is a little information about the company:

Modes4u is an online shop for cute stationery, fabrics, Bento lunch boxes, DIY clay sets, Re-Ment miniature toys and accessories, which are imported from Japan and the USA. The company based in Hong Kong was founded in 2007 by Managing Director Sandra Boch and always stocks several thousand kawaii products. Modes4u is an official San-X online retailer offering free international shipping for purchases over EUR 60 / US$78 / ₤ 54.  The online shop is especially active in the field of social media, having more than 60,000 Fans on Facebook, over 4,000 followers on Twitter and an English and German company blog.
While the company sells many different types of non-crafting items, they do sell lots of washi tape.

Here are some links to the product that they carry:

The fun news is that Modes4u has given us 6 rolls of washi tape to give away!  So we decided to randomly choose two (2) participants this week to each win 3 rolls of tape!  All you have to do is play along using washi tape.  Don't have any?  No problem!  Here are a couple of links demonstrating how you can make your own!

Here is what I came up with using my Washi tape and Unity Stamps:

The JUGs design team is using washi tape from Modes4u.  Let's see their fabulous creations!

Unity FWF Friday!

TGIF!  It's Friday and time for Unity Friends with Flair!  Well as you know I've been on an art journal kick and still loving it.  This week I decided to use my "Owl" book.

This book started last year when I took the Wild Art of Abandonment with Christy Tominlinson.  I declared it my "owl" book when from that class we drew lots of great owls.  Now it's a book where each page or each spread has to have an owl on it!

So this week I have my owls using one of the newest stamps from Unity Stamp Co called Older, Wiser, Better Owl as well as the butterfly collage stamp called Written in the Wings.

The background is filled with stencils and lots of different Unity Stamps.  I just love this new butterfly stamp and am thinking you will see this stamp line the edges of my journal often! :-)

Here are photos that share supplies I used on this page:

And some more photos of the pages:

Well that's all for today!

Be sure to swing on by tomorrow for a fun Just Us Girls challenge where I will be using another fun Unity Stamp on a card!

Till later!

Art Journal Tuesday

Today I have something to share but the day got away and crazy!  But here is an interesting spread I created some time ago.  I don't have details on supplies because I don't remember everything.  But I believe it was playing with alcohol inks.

close up:

This sentiment I circled is a Tim Holtz one.  The other stamped images you see on the pages are from Unity Stamp Co.

I'm keeping it short and simple today.  Any questions let me know!

Thanks for stopping by!
