Glittery Bird Gift Holder

Isn't this a beautiful bird? I came across this great stamp set at my LSS, it's by Magenta. The full set is a "puzzle" set. It comes with a bunch of different sized self cling rubber stamps mostly floral and leaves. They are meant to mix and match on your acrylic block like a puzzle. For my sample I used just one stamp for now.

I colored using copics and added some Cotton Candy Stickles to the bird and some Diamond Stickles to some of the flowers. Did you know that Mothers & Daughters Creations now carries all the Ranger Stickles? I cut the image out and adhered it to the large nestablity which I cut out of Regal Rose by Stampin Up. The background floral paper is glitter by from the Nana's Nursery Stack back by DCWV.

So what is so cool about this? Do you remember when Stampin Up had a special with Wild Wasabi textured paper. I think they had some scored paper left over from another special and they packaged it as a new special. When I opened it they were scored in odd spots and not so that I can make a card. What I did was make a "tent" like card so you can fit a gift inside. Maybe some candy or a small gift. Great way to make party favors perhaps.

Something a little different...

Yes this card is a bit different from the "style" you usually see from me. Let me tell you why (and when) I made it.......

Last fall a good friend of mine asked me to make some cards for her to use for business purposes. She is in the financial business so she requested something with relation to that. I got this stamp from I believe Additcted to Rubber Stamping. This is the card I came up with and she liked it. I look at it now and I don't know that I like it, probably because it's a bit different from my current style. At this point I think I can come up with something different. But if she likes why mess around right?

However, it does have some very cool features that I want to share with you. Can you tell that it is a bit shiny, sort of shimmery? What did I use you might ask? I used Perfect Pearls by Ranger products. This is a really neat product that produces amazing effects. Mothers and Daughters now carries a wide range of the Ranger products so be sure to check it out.

I will definitely work on some more creations using this. Last summer I took an amazing course at a local scrapbook store where I learned some basics with Ranger products. Let me know what do you think about Perfect Pearls and if you used it before?

Exciting News To Share....

I have some exciting news to share with you. I (yes me) made it on the design team for Clear and Simple Stamps. WOO HOO! I'm really excited they have super cute "Darlings"! I can't wait to get started. They are so nice as well. I received the acceptance mail today and then a phone call to welcome me. How nice is that? I totally didn't expect the phone call but it was a welcome surprise. Of course it was a bit crazy at the house (what else is new) when the call came but I was ecstatic to get it.

Hanna Challenge

The weekly Hanna Stamps challenge was to use more than one set to make one card. This was a fantastic challenge as I sent Hanna and Mikey on vacation! I think they are headed somewhere tropical hum......

I started with Stampin Up Mellow Moss. I used the square nestablities to cut the largest square out of Close to Cocoa. Then took a piece of paper from the DCWV travel stack pack and cut that using the next size square nestablity. I colored both Mikey and Hanna using Prismacolor markers (The Hanna is from Passport Hanna). I cut them out and had them snuggle together for their picture in front of the palm tree while vacationing on a tropical island. The sentiment is the Imaginisce glitter paper called Cool Pool Chatter found here. I cut out the words that I wanted to use and that's it. A simple but very effective way to get a great sentiment.

Altered Birdhouse

Here is my continuation for the National Scrapbooking Day celebration with Mothers & Daughters Creations. Who says you HAVE to scrapbook, can't we use scrapbooking papers to create something else?? Well that is what I did!

This started as a plain piece of wood in the shape of a birdhouse that I picked up at AC Moore for .25! What is wrong with me, why did I get just one?? I painted it with blue acrylic paint first. Then I took out this fabulous paper by Best Creations called Sprightly - Butterflies & Bluebird. This awesome paper is already glittered, you gotta love that! I cut the paper out to place on the top portion of the birdhouse with the little blue bird on the branch. I covered the landing of the birdhouse in the same paper. Then I cut out the butterfly so it can hang out on the edge! The flowers on the bottom were punched from the same paper and I added some cute garden brads by Making Memories.

This turned out to be very simple but I decided to keep it simple sometimes less is more. The little peg would be perfect to hang a key, don't you think?

Summer Lovin Challenge - Mothers & Daughters Creations

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!!!


"Summer Lovin had me a blast" I just had to! Come on you know you are a Grease fan as well, I can't be the only one! I love that movie must have seen it a few dozen times!


As many of you know the first Saturday of May is National Scrapbook Day! Many stores around the country are hosting events to celebrate. Mothers & Daughters Creations design team is celebrating as well. Be sure to stop by the other team members blogs to see what creations they have to share. We didn't limit ourselves to just scrapbook pages so it should be fun!

Here is a scrapbook page of my little dude and dudette. I will admit I'm not a big fan of Summer (I hate the heat!) but I really liked how this page turned out in the end. The one thing that bothered me was that I couldn't put the base through the Cuttlebug for a background effect because it doesn't fit. My base is Stampin Up Bliss Blue and I used Wild Wasabi under the cool Imaginisce patterned paper. I cut out a glittered beach ball and used my SU scalloped punch and wild Wasabi paper. I started with an SU base of Bliss Blue. Check out the fabulous summer glitter paper I used by Imaginisce. MDC has alot from this awesome line check it out here. I punched out the flowers on the lower right and added a glitter brad. Check out the yummy popsicles, that is a stamp by Imaginisce and I used Stickles for the glitter. Did you know that MDC now carries Ranger products! Stickles is indeed one of them, check it out here... If you haven't tried them yet but like glitter it's awesome stuff without the mess of using glue and then the glitter. The sentiment I printed out on the computer.


My second creation for the MDC "Summer Lovin" challenge is an altered item. I purchased this adorable adirondack chair at Michael's. It was plain wood. I started by painting it using an acrylic paint. On the seat of the chair I used a piece of paper from Imaginisce called Cool Pool Chatter. The sentiment on the front is a rub on also by Imaginisce found here. I love this awesome summer line, it's so much fun. I stamped the two penguins (also by Imaginisce here) I colored using Prismacolor markers. Can you see the stickles??? Oh yeah, I used green stickles for her skirt and orange stickles for their nose and feet! And let's not forget the popsicle which has some glitter also! Check out the full line of stickles here. The "gems" and the ribbon I picked up at Michael's. The white flower is also from MDC. Finally, I sat the chair on and against some cool Imaginisce paper to achieve a summer beach atmosphere. Did it work? Does it look like they are hanging out at the beach with the water in the background on a cool beach towel???
