Lauren's Weekly Sketch Challenge

Happy World Cardmaking Day! What are you doing to celebrate? I know there will be lots of great challenges going on all over the place. Be sure to stop by Queen Kat for some awesome fun all day! I am actually headed to a CKC Show! I've never been to one so I'm looking forward to getting out and seeing what they have.

This week Lauren has yet another awesome sketch for us to try. I decided to use my Unity Boo Crew stamps, Edward Cullen (for all your Twilight Fans) inspired. I started with SU Really Rust and layered that with black and a glitter sheet from DCWV. My three rectangles consist of black and awesome papers by My Little Yellow Bicycle. I stamped and colored the images in using Copics. Can you see the stickles on the fangs? It's there to make his teeth shiny!

Here is my take on this sketch:

Well that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

MDC Weekly Challenge

It's Thursday and that means another installment of the Mothers & Daughters Creations challenge. This month our host is the lovely Linda. For our first project this month Linda picked a moving card. I remember many years ago attending a Stampin Up regional and they use this spin/slider technique. I decided that might be cool with this skull.

The great pattern paper is by Imaginisce as is the skull. My solid paper is by SU, Wild Wasabi. I colored my white bridal flowers from Michael's to match the colors in the paper. Check out underneath the "sliding slot", can you see what it says: Vampire. That is cut out from another cool Imaginisce paper.

This one I dedicate to Edward Cullen... Ok who is reading the "Twilight" series? I finished the first one and ready to start the next one. Very good and I'm not one to like vampire stories.

Be sure to swing by the blogs of the other DT Members as I know they will have something awesome to share. If you decide to play along we would love to see what you come up with, feel free to post a link here or on the MDC Challenge Blog.

That's it for now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Challenge Wednesday

This week the Unity fantatics were given an awesome sketch to work with for our challenge. Maggie gave us this fantastic sketch to use. I love sketch challenges and made two cards this week. My pattern papers for both are by 7 Gypsies and the solids are by SU. All images are of course Unity. Check out my sidebar for links to the other peeps who love participating in these challenges. Come join the fun and give this sketch a try if you do let us know here or in the Unity SCS forum.
EDITED TO ADD: Unity will be giving away the new set "Simply Said" to one lucky participant in this awesome sketch challenge!

Have you heard of the super cool "challenge" that Unity has going on through Oct 20? A collection of awesome cards for the troops with a great incentive of 50% off your Unity order for the person who makes the most. WOO HOO! Well this is for a really good cause so I will definitely send some in, not sure if I can make enough to win but it's worth making some for the guys.

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

SCS COLOR WASH CHALLENGE

This week's SCS Technique challenge was to use a color wash over your embossed image - "Batik-The Colorwash Way ". I used Ranger color washes (Lettuce and Stream) for this one. Due to my lack of time I used them straight from their bottle which gave me a very vibrant look. At first I was very unsure if I liked what I did but in the end it came together nicely in my background. The SCS instructions called for using clear embossing powder but I used white instead. Breaking the rule, breaking the rules! LOLOL!
Here is my version using a butterfly from Unity's Beautiful Butterfly and the images on my "Batik" piece are from Unity's Oh Happy Day. My background colors are by Stampin Up: Tempting Turquoise and Certainly Celery and the Swiss Dots embossing folder for the background.

SCS Sketch Challenge - AGAIN

I know I used this sketch alot this week but I really love it! The other night Treehouse Stamps had a release party in their yahoo forum and it was fun chatting with the girls. I used this sketch for the challenge that night.

I used pattern papers from a 7 Gypsies pack. I colored the butterflies with a prisma color marker and added Burgundy Stickles.

This is a quick one today. Off I go to work on challenges while the kids sleep.

Thanks for stopping by!
