Day 5 - Growing in Unity

Day 5 of Growing in Unity! In case you don't know what Growing in Unity is all about it's a way for those who love Unity stamps to share their Unity creations and be in the spotlight for a week. This was started a long time ago and recently passed on to me to organize and I am so happy to be a part of it. If you want to be a part of the fun check out this thread in the Unity SCS forum for more details.

Today I "altered" a door hanger. This is a wooden unfinished door hanger you can get at Michael's for $1.00. I painted it with white acrylic paint and then covered it using this cool paper. I used modge podge as my adhesive and used it over the paper as well to seal and give it a shine. For both projects today I used the "SHE" kit. I used the fabulous quote from it on both projects. I just love this one. My flowers are Prima and the buttons are SU. I used Momento Dew Drops to achieve the multi colored look on the quote.

I just love that blue and green together so vibrant I think. I love this door hangers. I made one a while ago and my 4 year daughter took and has hanging on her door. For that one I used some sort of fun animal image I think. But for $1 the possibilities are endless with this and makes a cool little gift.

Here it is again actually hanging on a door handle, I wasn't sure which photo came out better so I'm using both:

So with the left over paper I covered a little composition book. Now can I ask why don't they make those black and white composition books hard anymore? Remember when the full sized ones where hard backs and didn't bend etc. I have a few still on hand for altering but in the stores now they are soft! What the kids are beating each other up with them?? LOL!

Anyhow, this is a small compo book which measures 3.5" x 4.5":

Be sure to swing by all week for a chance to win a Unity Kit just by leaving a comments. I will also toss in an IPPITY Kit from my stash as well! SOOO, THERE WILL BE TWO WINNERS THIS WEEK FOR MY GIU!! I will select a random winner and announce it next weekend!

If you are looking for a challenge be sure to swing on by the Unity Challenge forum for the newest Unity Addicts Challenge.

Well check back tomorrow as I hope to have something stamped on canvas. I tried with a canvas drop cloth from home depot per the fabulous Angie Blom, but it didn't turn out as nice as I hoped. I might share it anyhow, along with some stamping on canvas board I got at Michael's! :-)

Well that's all for now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Those are both gorgeous!! Sometimes you can stock up on the composition books right before school starts. Sometimes even weird places like Rite-aid and such will have ridiculous prices on them. Just watch the adverts!!

Very cute projects! I've altered lots of composition books, and I love the way they turn out with great Unity quotes. Yours is great! The door-hangers are something I haven't tried, but you've given me a great idea for an inexpensive and personalized birthday gift for a little one's party. Thanks so much!
