Just Us Girls 99th Challenge!

WOW I can't believe it's time for the JUST US GIRLS 99th challenge!! Really, has it been that many? Well it has for sure! I'm thrilled to still be a part of this wonderful group of crafty ladies!

This week is 3D / Template week and our theme from our hostess the wonderful Lisa is back to school.

So I decided to start with a wooden piece from Michael's. It's in the unfinished wood section and these are usually about $1.00.

I painted it added some fun "school" themed paper and buttons. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co.

So inside I put some of those slick Crayola crayons. I HAD to get these for myself to color with! LOL!

So be sure to swing on by the JUGS DT and leave them some love.

Here in the Northeast we are bracing for hurricane Irene! Hopefully she does not pound my area that hard but we shall see.

But today I have yet another mixed media project to share with you for FWF! This creation is done on a canvas board again, sized 5 x7. I used a fun green paint as a base and used one of my handy dandy flower napkins on top of that. The girl's are from the Girl of a Moment kit and the sentiments from other random Unity kits . The sentiment Botanical Garden is part of the napkin.

So I will be selling at local craft fairs soon! I just got my Ria Creations name set up dba and all. Any tips or advice for craft fairs let me know!

Just Us Girls Challenge - Let's Bring on Some Color

It's time for another challenge with Just Us Girls! This week is color week and our hostess Elise has picked some wonderful colors for us: Chocolate Chip Brown, Deep Yellow, Riding Hood Red and Olive Green.

I decided to use my Tim Holtz "Holiday Collections" Christmas stamps. I made a custom ink pad for this particular one and actually had a few stamped up already. I thought it worked well with this week's colors so I put it together for a fun Christmas Card. The sentiment is by Unity Stamp Co.

Friends with Flair Friday

It's Friday and time for another Friends with Flair! So I haven't made a card in a while for FWF but I've been into mixed media and art journalling. I am part of a travelling art journaling group. SO today I wanted to share a page I did using Unity Stamps in one of the art journals that traveled my way. For this I used a pretty decorative napkin as my background. In case you missed it last week I shared a piece of art on canvas board using a napkin. I even did my first video sharing how I made that piece of art, you can check it out here.

Here is my journal page:

The butterfly is Unity as is the saying with believe in it. The words Botanical Garden was part of the napkin.

Challenges by AR #3

It's time for another challenge with "Challenges by AR". In case you are not familiar, AR Creations is an awesome template store by the fabulous Adela. She has recently started a challenge blog for her amazing templates. Every few weeks a new challenge is posted and you will have a chance to win a prize! Come play with us in 3D! Swing on by CHALLENGES BY AR for all the details!

This week our hostess is Vicki and she has challenged us with making something for a masculine birthday.

For this challenge I used the 3 pocket caddy for my creation.

I used papers by Tim Holtz and stamps by Unity Stamp Co. My solid paper is from Stampin Up. On the front I used one of Tim's plastic fragment pieces and just glued a piece of his paper to the back for a fun embellishment. I added a gift card and a distressed Happy Birthday tag to this caddy. In the back I had candy sorry I didn't take a good shot of it to capture the back as well.

Well that's all for now! Be sure to swing on by the Challenges by AR blog for all the challenge details on how you can play along and you don't want to miss what the design team cooked up! Go ahead and leave them all some love!

JUGS #79 - Altered Notebooks!

This week I'm the hostess over at
Just Us Girls with technique week and I have a fun one for you. It's that time of the year for back to school so this week I thought it would be fun to alter a notebook. Any size, any type you want. Have fun and get creative with it.

I took a square spiral notebook I picked up on super clearance at Micheal's and came up with this festive little book:

I thought this book would be great for keeping all your holiday lists and ideas in one place!

Friends with Flair Friday - Snowman Fun + My First Video

I have yet another mixed media canvas to share with you! YES I love making these! This one is on canvas board and it's using paper napkins again.

I also made a video for this one! Horray! I got a webcam for my birthday last month and finally I had a chance to make my very first crafty video! My kids have been using it almost every day making their own crafty videos. I even figured out how to do some editing!

The video came out to be almost 13 mins which is a little long, so I decided to speed it up, add some captions and music - can you guess what type of music? Take a peek and let me know what you think. I might see if I can load the original one as well not sure if it's too long for you tube.

It was fun creating this and even the editing wasn't too bad. I'm sure I'll get better at it if I keep trying!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Friends with Flair Unity Style

I have been on a kick playing around with canvas. Today I want to share with you a 16 x 20 canvas I started making a while ago. This is not totally complete, I still wanted to add more layers to it. Summer has been crazy and I haven't had as much time as I would like to craft so I figured I'd share it with you now.

This is using lots of Unity and {ippity} Stamps.

Remember those fun trees from Unity - Giggle Grove! I think these are retired now but they do have the small version on the website.

Close up:

I used lots of paints, stamps and Liquitex acrylic inks. The trees were stamped and cut from pattern papers and I used gingham ribbon as stems.

Well thanks for stopping by! Be sure to swing on by the Unity Blog to see how else is participating today!

Hey there!

So last Friday I hosted a challenge for the MINI VSN over at Splitcoast Stampers! I shared with you my sample from my challenge today I have another creation which was for one of the other challenges in which the hostess called The Queens Wave. It was to use images that "wave". SO I used the pennants in the background and I also thought of Butterflies as waving in the wind.

I used the July Get Inked Kit by Queen Kat Designs for this card. My solid papers are from Stampin Up and the pattern paper is Echo Park Paper.

Here is another view of this card:
