Lizzie Anne Designs Guest RockStar Challenge

For over 100 wonderful sketches LAD has had some rockin challenges. For their 100th sketch they are having a run little contest to be the next LAD rockstar. I've always loved their stamps so I thought I should give it a try. I ended up using an image that has since retired but I thought it works so well with the Basic Grey paper I picked. SO, I hope that is ok! You can find the sketch and all the others in their forum Lizzie Anne Land.

I was really happy with how this turned out. I used a "faux" gem that I got at Michael's in the center flower. Here is a close up:

Lizzie Anne Birthday Bash!

Lizzie Anne is celebrating their 2nd birthday!! They have a bunch of new sets coming out and all the ones I've seen so far are awesome! Get ready for Fall and Winter! For their birthday bash they have a few cool things going on. One is a sketch challenge where there is a chance to win all the sets to be released! Can you believe that? How cool is that? Here is my card I created for the sketch challenge I used sketch #1. For this I used Basic Grey paper (Two Scoops). I colored the cupcakes with Copics and added stickles then cut them out. The entire middle panel is all on pop dots, so it all stands out.

They are having a customer blog hop going on today! I signed up so I'm sharing some of my LAD creations with you past and present. Here is a one I made yesterday to share using the Far East set. My background papers for this one is by Basic Grey the Boxer pack. I embossed my lanterns. In person they look fab, but I realized in the photo the colors blend a little too much with the papers, but everything was stuck down and done so I didn't want to mess it all up. I still like it though. The sketch is for SC185 at Splitcoaststampers.

Cupcake Challenge

I decided to make a card for the cupcake challenge over at Taylored Expressions this week. I have to admit cupcake images are fun. Have you seen the new Inkadinkadoo Cupcake set, I may have to get that one.

This card starts with a white base and then I used Wild Wasabi and embossed with the Cuttlebug. The polka dot layer of glitter paper is by DCWV. The great cupcake is a single from Lizzie Anne Designs which I stamped and used my square nestablities to cut it out and add a mat of Stampin Up's Regal Rose. I colored the cupcake using copics and added Pink Stickles as the sprinkles!

Embossing Anyone?

One of the challenges at Lizzie Anne Designs was to use a sketch and to incorporate embossing. Ok, you'll say what about the Cuttlebug embossing that we are all so fond of? Yeah, I thought of that but then decided to go back to an oldie but goodie the heat gun and powder! Why don't we see this much anymore?

For this I used the flowers from the LAD set called Blissful Blossoms and the sentiment is from the set called Funky Floral. The base is Stampin Up's Blue Bayou. The middle patterned paper (layered on white) is from a DCWV stack pack and I embossed the flower from Blissful Blossoms on it in white. The background of the Blue Bayou is always white heat embossed. I added a sheer white ribbon and the sentiment.

This was definitely a fun challenge as it was great to watch the powder melt, I forgot how much I used to love that LOLOL!

Poppin Flowers

Tonight I am having photo issues, I think someone changed a setting on the camera so I had to play around to get a somewhat decent photo. But I know it's still a bad photo today, sorry about that.

Anyhow, this took the weekly sketch challenge at Lizzie Anne and the SCS technique challenge. The LAD was the sketch but the twist is to add some distressing and the SCS challenge was the faux cloisonne technique.

I started with Stampin Up's Rose Red and added layers from there. The fancy green patterned paper is by Autumn Leaves (picked up a pack today at Target on sale!). I used the Blissful Blossoms and Far East sets from LAD. My distressing was on the edges I used my Ranger distressing tool. But also on the layer behind the flowers. I used vanilla and added some Ranger distress inks to it, and then ran it through the cuttlebug using the tiny bubbles. It looked cool, I swear until I ended up covering it up with the flowers.

This is the first time I tried the faux cloisonne technique. I remember seeing it (or something very close) on the Carol Duvall Show awhile back and I think it was Micheal Strong who did the demo. Anyhow, today I went searching for some floral photos in magazines and then used black and gold embossing powder. I think this card does look a bit better in person, probably due to my photo issues today. But overall I wasn't thrilled by it. I think I went overboard on the flowers, not sure my great idea of stacking the flowers worked out so well. I glued two flowers done, used pop dots on the rest to make them pop off the page. Oh well, I just went with it even if it is not the best! Maybe I will try again!

Lizzie Anne Sketch Challenge

I haven't participated in the Lizzie Anne sketch challenges in a bit so here is my take on the sketch from this past week.

I started with Stampin Up's Really Rust as the base for the card. The shimmery background is from a DCWC stack pack. I used LAD's set Far East for the stamped images. The "twist" this week was to stamp on your pattern paper. I really liked how the tree branch up top looked, but I had already stamped the "bush" on bottom so i just left things as is and added the embellishments. I think I would have preferred more of the cool branches instead but left it with my initial instinct.

Cupcakes, Cupcakes, Cupcakes

I created this using a sketch from CPS. These great cupcakes are from Lizzie Anne Desings singles. I started with cardstock from Stampin Up and embossed it with the Cuttlebug. The patterned circle is from a glittery DCWV stack pack. The scallops I punched out with the scallop punch from Stampin Up. I used a 1/8 inch punch to create the lacey effect around the scallops. The "Warmest Wishes" sentiment is from Stampin Up. I colored the cupcakes using markers and used glitter gel pens to add some sparkle.

Scrumptious Cupcakes & BLOG CANDY GIVE AWAY!

I received my new Lizzie Anne stamps on Friday. One that I got was the great cupcake and I had to ink it up immediately. Here is what I came up with...

I used Stampin Up's Rose Romance paper for my base and the Cuttlebug to created the embossed background.. I colored the cupcakes with markers and used my Gel Pens to add some shimmer to them. I used the scallop punch by Stampin Up to punch them out and my 1/8 inch punch to add the "lacy" border. The patterned paper is from a glitter DCWV stack pack. The mustard colored circles are from an unknown source, I had the paper in scrap. What is your favorite card stock to use? I have to admit I do love the Stampin Up weight and colors! I have to order some more, I actually don't have alot of it. I was up late last night going through the new catty deciding what I need. Card stock is on my list for sure.

Saturday Sketch Challenge

Lauren not feeling well and all still managed to post her weekly sketch challenge yesterday. I used this great snowman from Sarasota Stamps and the Sentiment is from Lizzie Anne Designs .

Can you guess how I got my cool background paper? LOL, of course you know using my new Cuttlebug! LOL, yes I was allowed to use it early as well! So far I do love it, now I will start collecting all the great embossing folders and will NEED to invest in the nestabilities! Lauren was in the end who convinced me I had to get the Cuttlebug and I'm glad.
