Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Hey there!  I've been a slacker this week.  I totally want to get on the ball with my blog but it's been super busy with the kids and school stuff.  They are in school until June 27th!  But this weekend I'm going to the Heirloom Show so that should be fun.

OK so I don't have a finished project that I said I would from last week.  If you saw my FWF last week I posted half a spread I was working on and of course I never did finish the other half.  You can see that POST HERE.

Then on Tuesday I posted for art journal Tuesday a background I created as a base for a page.  I was going to use this butterfly for the page:

I didn't quite finish the spread BUT I did play with this awesome butterfly using embossing powders and Angelica Fibers!

First let me share with you the embossed butterflies:

My thought is to emboss maybe 2 of each color and use these on that background page.

This is an Ranger Adirondack embossing powder in Stream.

Ranger Magenta Puffs embossing powder. Flock/fuzzy texture.

Judi Kins Lemon Twinkle embossing powder. Glittery texture.

You can totally see the difference in the different powders it's soo cool!  Then I added some distress inks to these butterflies:

THEN I remembered I have this stuff called Angelina Fiber.  I purchased 3 little bags a long time ago at the Heirloom Show I am attending this weekend.  I believe then it was in the Class Act booth.  Anyhow, I haven't used it at all.  I remember trying it when I got it but never did anything with it.  So I tried with this fantastic bold butterfly and here is how it looks:

It was hard to capture it well on camera but this shows it.  So I can trim the excess fibers around the butterfly and use them in my journal.

Alrighty, that's all I have for today.  SOrry I don't have a completed project but I thought it was fun to share these techniques with you.

Have a great weekend!

Art Journal Tuesday

Hey there!  I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day Weekend.  Today I have the start of a new journal spread to share with you.

A while back I played with some Dylusions Sprays and stencils to create a background then I just left it and didn't do anything with it.

My Dylusions Sprays

Last night I went back to that spread and added some layers of Unity Stamps to it.  In the end here is a background/base I came up with:

I used lots of stamps on this:

Funny thing about the hearts.  I stamped just a few on both pages only to realize I had the book upside down when I stamped!  So I had this.

Then thought those hearts would make great flowers!

Next up I am thinking of using this big wonderful stamp:

That's all for now!

Till later!

Happy Memorial Day!

God bless all of those who have served, who are still serving and those we lost.  Happy Memorial Day!

I pulled this card out from my "archives".  I made this for last year's Fourth of July.  It's a great Cocoa stamp by Sweet n' Sassy Stamps.

This is from Patriotic Cocoa Stamp Set.

Have a great day!!

Friends with Flair Friday

Hello there people!  It's FRIDAY and that means it's time for UNITY Friends with Flair!  And of course I'm at it again with another art journal page.  This time I'm sharing only one page but I am working on two pages I just didn't finish them.  I will share the 2nd page next week.

Anyhow, I decided to play with a new stencil I got from my LSS.  It's a Crafters Workshop Stencil by Balzer Designs.  What does it remind you of?

The very first thing I thought leaves!  So with that in mind and one of my Angie girls off i went.

Here is a quick slideshow showing my supplies and some steps.  Some photos do show the right page because I was intending to do a two page spread but didn't have time to finish it.

Here is my finished page:

Well that's all for now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag Time Thursday

Hi there!  Ok this week we had Card Frenzy Wednesday on Tuesday but did you see my sneak peek for Friday?

Well it's Thursday and it's time for Tag Time Thursday!  Today I am playing with some of my stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop.  They have super fun images and Nicole the owner is awesome.  I'm throwing my hat in the ring for their design team call, hey you never know!

My phone was charging while I was making this tag so I don't have step by step but here is the tag I made:

So I wish I had a picture of the background but I used Dylusions sprays along with some Crafters Workshop stencils.  The Sweet Stamp Shop sets I used are The Core of It and Packaged Pretty.

I stamped the sentiment from Packaged Pretty on vanilla cardstock, used a hole punch and then using Fired Brick and Honey distress inks I inked the circle.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the tag and placed the punched out version all inked up on top of that using dimensionals. I stamped the apple a few times on some Basic Grey cardstock and paper pieced the parts.  The bottom two are adhered to the tag and the one in the middle is up on dimensionals. Stickles were added for the stem, leaves and seeds. I distress the sides of the tag and inked it with black.  The "cord" I used for the hole of the tag is from Stampin Up.

Close ups:

I did manage to take a picture of the supplies I used but if you have any specific questions let me know!

That is all for today!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's Tuesday

Hey there!  It's Tuesday and normally time for some art journaling!  Today I have a sneak peek at my journal page for Friday's FWF and a card using Sweet Stamp Shop stamps for a challenge Nicole posted on their facebook page this morning.

Here is my Bright Lights card for the Sweet Stamp Shop FB challenge:

Here are the supplies I used:

I just went with a VERY simple card using my newest set from Sweet Stamp Shop called Cityscape.  I wanted to use my Hero Arts Neon inks but added in a distress yellow because I don't have yellow in the neon colors. This literally was a 10 minute card (probably less).  I just wanted to play along and use the new stamps!  This set is great and I can see playing around alot with it!  Perhaps for my art journal as well!

Now here is a sneaky peek at my art journal page that I will post this Friday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Till later!

Just Us Girls Color Challenge

This week is our Color Challenge week over at JUST US GIRLS!  The colors picked out by our hostess Vicki - Sand, Crumb Cake & Cameo Coral.

Ok so I had Crumb Cake and Cameo Coral but I didn't have sand.  I tried to incorporate that as best I can.

Here is what I came up with:

I used the Sweet Stamp Shop sets: Cityscape and Nesting.  I also am playing along in the Sweet Stamp Shop challenge called "Use What You Can Challenge"

I pulled out a few things I have purchased a while ago or in bulk to use:

The stickers I got at Joannes and thought how cute, and never used them.  The Mod Podge I have a few bottles because at one time I was into making magnets so I thought I needed more and more!

On my card I stuck the sticker on a round piece of grungeboard (another thing I hoarded at one point because I found them cheap!) and added the dimensional to it.

Here are supplies I used:

Be sure to swing by the Just Us Girls DT for loads of inspiration!

How to play: Please copy and use our graphic on your post. You need to upload your project for this week's challenge to your online blog or to a public photo gallery. Friends with Flair!

It's Friday and time for another Friends with Flair Unity Style!  Be sure to check out the great new releases and sales this weekend at Unity Stamp Co.

A little while ago I picked up a Dylusions Journal.  Everyone seems to rave about it, I LOVE the Dylusional sprays and Dyan Reaveley rocks!  But at first I'm not impressed with the journal.  I played around with a paper background then some sprays and stencils and then just left it along because the paper seemed to curl a bit etc.  Anyhow, I will continue to play with this journal regardless.  Perhaps it's just me.

Here is my layout:

So the background I started with scrapbook/cardmaking papers.  I added lots of stencils as well.

All my stamped images are by Unity:

JOURNEY like no other - The butterflies
Becoming Butterfly - The sentiment on the right
Layers of Life kit - The ruler around the edges
Jumprope - in the background

I used my white gel pen on the butterflies.  The butterflies were stamped and painted with a thick acrylic paint.

Here is a picture I took of supplies I used:

Here are the 2 pages:

On these pages I decided to test out some new spray that I picked up this week at Michaels - Radiant Rain.

This stuff is really pretty.  I tested it on this blue cardstock and it glittered and shined amazingly.

I didn't capture it this fantastic on my journal page but you can see the glitter here you can see it a bit:

I tried to originally mask around the butterflies and try to use it on the butterflies to make them sparkle but that didn't take.  I'm thinking maybe it doesn't like the paint, not sure. I will definitely use it again and maybe do a dark background.

Alrighty I think that covers it!  If you like to art journal come join us on Facebook at - MIXED UP MEDIA CHIX - ART JOURNAL GIRLZ

Thanks for stopping by!  Till tomorrow and a new Just Us Girls Challenge!

Tag Time Thursday

Tag Time Thursday

It's Thursday and time to share another tag I made.

This I made using Pan Pastels.  I haven't used these much but saw a great video by Carolyn Dube using pan pastels so I was inspired.

Here are some pics of my steps:

First I gesso'd the tag:

Picked 2 pan pastel colors for the background.

Stamped the hearts using Versamark ink (sorry not in photo) and colored over it with the pink pan pastels.  They "pop" beautifully.

Did the same with the owl and banner.

Used my doodle pens to add to the tag (sorry bad lighting):

Here is another peek at this tag:

Card Frenzy Wednesday

CARD FRENZY WEDNESDAY!

This week I made a card using my new LAYERS OF LIFE by Unity kit and a great sketch by Dahlhouse Designs!  I just discovered last week that Lisa (Unity DT superstar) hosts a sketch challenge on her blog monthly.  So I decided to play along.

Here is the sketch:

I decided to go NEON with this one.  I used the very first Layers of Life kit by Unity!  This is a new monthly subscription kit geared toward art journaling/scrapping/ Project Life.  You can sign up HERE for that!

Here is what I came up with by flipping the sketch:

Here are the supplies I used:

I forgot to get the paper in this shot but I used the neon cardstock from Michael's by Recollections.

Well that's all for today!  Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
