Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today and be sure to keep your eye out for that FABULOUS UNITY FRIENDS WITH FLAIR BLINKIE, you just might win something!!

It seems that each week I've been using some canvas and this week is no different! I used stretched canvas (is that what they call it, you know those things on wood that painters use LOL :-) ) as my base to make a layout. Here it is:

I painted the canvas with a pink acrylic paint then added some "dry brushing" in a darker paint to get the background effect. I used the Unity kit called Explore Today and Every Day. Then I made all those Tim Holtz inspired paper flowers for the trim and the "gems" are from Prima.

Another view:

Well that's it for now! So are you guys STILL on the search for that darn blinkie??? Did you find it yet?

Unity Flair!

I happy to be hanging with the blinkie this week!! So leave me a comment and I'll try and pick YOUR name on Saturday via a random draw to win some Unity Goodies!!!

Well it's Friday again and time for another fun Friends with Flair Friday Unity Style!

This week I found a canvas based frame in my stash. Here is what I came up with:

I used Distress inks in Aged Mahogany and Spiced Marmalade to sponge color the front. From the September KOTM I used the Eiffel Tower image for my designs around the edges. Take a look you will see that the image has the Eiffel Tower with some cool swirls :-) Then I paper pieced (using Cosmo Cricket paper) the cute owl (August KOTM) and added some fun buttons that I picked up in the holiday section at Michael's.

Just Us Girls Saturday Challenge

It's Saturday and time for another JUST US GIRLS challenge. This week we are using acetate on our projects. So I went with a clear card. I picked up some clear "cardstock" a while back at a craft show and finally I'm using some. I used a Christmas image from the Unity Septemeber Kit of the Month.

But first I want to make a shout out to fellow JUGS DT member Alicia who celebrated her birthday this past week! I hope you had a Happy Birthday, Alicia!

Here is what I came up with:

I embossed the clear cardstock using a snowflake embossing folder. My main image is from Unity and I cut out the center snowflake to create dimension and added some SU glass glitter. This is mounted on a piece of cardstock covered with fabric. I have been loving using fabric in my creations lately and I thought this would work well.

Well that's it for now.

Be sure to swing on by the JUGS Blog to see what the DT cooked up and to play along with us!

Friday Friends with Flair Unity Style

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

Well it's Friday again and time for another fun Friends with Flair Friday Unity Style!

This week I once again pulled out some of my painters canvas and decided I wanted to make a canvas card!

Here is what I came up with:

So, I started with a piece of canvas ironed and folded to the size of a card. I added some gesso to it and waited for it to dry. Then using some acrylic paints here I used some Ranger paint daubers, I painted the canvas. Then I stamped using a birdcage from Unity in Aged Mahogany Distress ink by Tim Holtz/Ranger. I wanted to make my canvas card sturdy so I lined the inside with chocolate brown paper (Gina K Designs).

On the front I added all my paper elements. The scallops were cut from the Fiskars scallop punch using Tim Holtz's Lost and Found stack and Chocolate Brown cardstock from Gina K. The heart "leaves" branch I cut using my Cricut. When adhering all the paper I used a fabric glue since I was adhering directly to the canvas. The owl is paper pieced and cut out and I used dimensionals to adhere.

I am really pysched at how this came out. NOW, I know I'm not the first person to make an all fabric/canvas card but I was impressed with myself at what I came up with since it was not based on anything I have seen online or in a magazine or anywhere.
Well that's it for now!

Unity Addicts Challenge

It's Wednesday and time for another Unity Addicts Challenge! This week I picked our challenge and it is to make a masculine themed birthday card but add a piece of chipboard/grunge board to it.

Here is what I came up with using a piece of grunge board

I stamped the birthday cake image on a pice of grunge board and cut it out. I used Tim Holtz distress inks and colored the cake with copics. My pattern papers are from the Tim Holtz paper stack called "Lost and Found". I also actually finished the inside, something I hardly ever do:

On the grunge board image i also added some crackle paint - Clear Rock Candy to add some distress and cracks to it. All my edges I distressed with a distresser as well.

Be sure to swing by the Unity Challenge forum over at SCS after 10 am this morning to see the details and play along with us.

If you have a challenge idea come share them with us in the Challenge Idea thread, you just may be our next guest!!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

Today I have an 8x8 canvas scrapbook page to share with you.

The base is a canvas I picked up at a hardware store. It's a painters canvas which I just cut to size and neaten out the edges with glue on the back. This I mounted on a black piece of cardstock. The scallops are paper but the pattern blue over the scallops is a fabric. The flowers are paper glowers by Prima with glitter in the middle. The sentiment of course is from Unity Stamp Co.

Close up of the flowers:

Here you can also see the texture of the canvas.

Well that's it for now!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to Friday and another Friends with Flair Unity Style. Be sure to swing by the Unity Blog for a full list of Friends participating today!

This week I played with some canvas again! Gotta love it! Here is what I did:

This is also for this week's Unity Addicts Challenge! The challenge this week is to make an ATC and add it to a card! COME JOIN US AND PLAY ALONG IN THE UNITY SCS FORUM.

My ATC is the actual canvas. I measured the canvas to the size of an ATC (2.5 x 3.5) then layered it on turquoise paper. I went with raw canvas (no gesso primer) and just used 2 glimmer mists on it and then in black stazon stamped the sentiment from the Donna Downey for Unity Kit called She. I re-stamped the sentiment on paper using different colored Memento inks and cut out believe to adhere over the believe on the canvas.

I just love love this quote!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

It's Friday again and time for Unity Friends with Flair! This week I have my first page of my inspiration journal to show you. Last week I made my own inspired by the fabulous Donna Downey! The whole idea is a bit out of my element but I love that, very excited to be working on something new and different.

So I used the Donna Downey set by Unity called "She"....

My first page came out pretty simple, not over the top artistic or anything but nonetheless I like how it turned out. I want to get all cool and funky but that will probably take practice :-)

The background is just a simple yellow with some blue added. I inked the edges in the new SU blue called Pacific Point. The sentiment BELIEVE is a piece of chipboard which I covered with Glimmer Mists and added Ranger Distress Crackle Paint - Rock Candy Clear. The flowers in the lower right corner was me wondering if my canvas (the canvas dropcloth material from Home Depot) will cut using my nesties and cuttlebug! Guess what it worked! :-) I colored the fabric with inks. I stamped the girl in Stazon black and used water color crayons to color the hair. (the water color crayons, other first for me!) I'm going to show some close ups below but I used Spica Pens to add glitz to her hair and stickles to her red lips.

Closeups:

Well that's it for now. Any suggestions or places of inspiration you can suggest I would love to hear!

Be sure to swing on by the UNITY BLOG for a full list of FWF participants! You will want to hop along to all their blogs as one person is hiding the FWF Blinkie and if you find it and leave that person a comment you will be in the running for some Unity stamps which is picked randomly.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Unity Addicts Challenge Wednesday

Welcome to Wednesday and a new Unity Addicts Challenge!!! I just posted the new challenge in the Unity Challenge forum HERE! This week Angie is our guest and she picked a fabulous challenge for us! To stamp on anything but paper!! I have totally been into this type of stamping lately, especially trying canvas etc. Love Donna Downey's inspiration video's and work. And today is Wednesday which means Donna Downey may have a new inspiration video! FUN STUFF!

Anyhow, here is what I came up with for the Unity Addicts Challenge!

For these I stamped on canvas. Ok so I didn't use any fancy artist canvas. My Unity Addict Guest and friend Angie is the one who told me about this canvas! It's a cotton canvas drop cloth from the Home Depot! NO JOKE! I just went with it, didn't' prime it first or anything. I used some Tim Holtz Distress inks to ink the background. Then I stamped the flowers (Donna Downey for Unity) in Stazon as well as the sentiments in black stazon. I mounted it on cardstock and finished off the card.

Here are a few close up views:

I suppose it looks a little raw but I thought it came out rather neat. This type of stamping and creating is taking my stamping to a different level. I also finished one page of my inspiration journal which I will share soon as well!

That's it for now! I'll be back tomorrow with a fun new Treehouse Challenge!

Till later!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

Unity Stamp Company

TGIF!! It's Friday and that means UNITY FRIENDS WITH FLAIR FRIDAY! Be sure to swing on by the Unity Blog today for the full list of those participating!

This week I'm sharing an "altered" piece using the Donna Downey kit called "She". I used a small wooden frame from Michael's. These are great unfinished frames for $1, so perfect for our stamping craft. I sprayed Glimmer Mists and some Ranger colors on them. Then stamped using a Donna Downey flower in black stazon. You'll notice my flowers are not straight up and down? Well, after I stamped them all nice nice I realized that I didn't have the frame facing the right way, you know I didn't have the top (where the hanging piece is on back) at the top! OH WELL I said, and just went with it. I think it's ok though.
