Summer Lovin Challenge - Mothers & Daughters Creations

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!!!

"Summer Lovin had me a blast" I just had to! Come on you know you are a Grease fan as well, I can't be the only one! I love that movie must have seen it a few dozen times!

As many of you know the first Saturday of May is National Scrapbook Day! Many stores around the country are hosting events to celebrate. Mothers & Daughters Creations design team is celebrating as well. Be sure to stop by the other team members blogs to see what creations they have to share. We didn't limit ourselves to just scrapbook pages so it should be fun!

Here is a scrapbook page of my little dude and dudette. I will admit I'm not a big fan of Summer (I hate the heat!) but I really liked how this page turned out in the end. The one thing that bothered me was that I couldn't put the base through the Cuttlebug for a background effect because it doesn't fit. My base is Stampin Up Bliss Blue and I used Wild Wasabi under the cool Imaginisce patterned paper. I cut out a glittered beach ball and used my SU scalloped punch and wild Wasabi paper. I started with an SU base of Bliss Blue. Check out the fabulous summer glitter paper I used by Imaginisce. MDC has alot from this awesome line check it out here. I punched out the flowers on the lower right and added a glitter brad. Check out the yummy popsicles, that is a stamp by Imaginisce and I used Stickles for the glitter. Did you know that MDC now carries Ranger products! Stickles is indeed one of them, check it out here... If you haven't tried them yet but like glitter it's awesome stuff without the mess of using glue and then the glitter. The sentiment I printed out on the computer.

My second creation for the MDC "Summer Lovin" challenge is an altered item. I purchased this adorable adirondack chair at Michael's. It was plain wood. I started by painting it using an acrylic paint. On the seat of the chair I used a piece of paper from Imaginisce called Cool Pool Chatter. The sentiment on the front is a rub on also by Imaginisce found here. I love this awesome summer line, it's so much fun. I stamped the two penguins (also by Imaginisce here) I colored using Prismacolor markers. Can you see the stickles??? Oh yeah, I used green stickles for her skirt and orange stickles for their nose and feet! And let's not forget the popsicle which has some glitter also! Check out the full line of stickles here. The "gems" and the ribbon I picked up at Michael's. The white flower is also from MDC. Finally, I sat the chair on and against some cool Imaginisce paper to achieve a summer beach atmosphere. Did it work? Does it look like they are hanging out at the beach with the water in the background on a cool beach towel???

SO what do you think? Are you ready for Summer???

Don't forget to stop by Lynda, Tamara and Jennifer's blogs to see what they have created for National Scrapbooking Day.

Also be sure to stop by the Mothers &Daughters Creations store for some great deals! Check this entry for some awesome details on some awesome deals at MDC!

Thanks for stopping by, now go scrapbook!

Be sure to stop in later I am working on another altered item using some awesome paper by Best Creations.

Sketch Challenge

I finally had a chance to do Lauren's weekly sketch challenge this was her challenge from this past Saturday. For this card I pulled out some beautiful papers from Mothers & Daughters Creations. This gorgeous paper in the background is by Hanko. It's a beautiful delicate washi paper and worked so well with this design. The floral stamped image is by Imaginisce and can also be found at M&D here. My base is SU Cameo Coral and then Mellow Moss. I added some paper piercing in the lower right corner just for an added element.

This was another card I started working on and took a little time to get it "going". But once I pieced it all together it worked like a charm. Thanks Lauren for a wonderful sketch to work with.

Thanks for looking!

Sophie Hits the Beach

This is Sophie waving hello from the beach sporting her new sparkly bikini. Sophie is on the newest additions over at Hanna Stamps.

This layout using Lauren's weekly sketch challenge. Don't you hate it when things just grow legs and walk off your desk? When I sat down to do this card I knew I had a "Beach" sentiment from Imaginisce. Of course I think it went into hiding because I can't find it! ERRR! :-) So I used "Sunshine" instead, also by Imaginisce. You can find some great Imaginisce stamps and this beach themed paper at Mothers and Daughters Creations. I decided to add some paper piercing in the left corner for an added touch. In the end I was feeling like this card was missing something. I toyed with adding other elements but then just decided less is more to just leave it be.

Details:
Paper: Wild Wasabi (SU), DCWV, Imaginisce
Stamps: Imaginisce (Mothers & Daughters), Hanna Stamps

Don't forget the next release party for Hanna Stamps is this Thursday in the SCS forum here.

Thanks for looking.

Easter Basket Fun

Getting ready for Easter? I was out today and found these great little boxes and they were cheap $1.69 for 12! I had to get them. They are intended for wedding favors, but my current intention is an Easter basket. I made this little darling basket using my great papers from Mothers & Daughters Creations. I added "fake" glitter eggs for the "look" but they would hold some candy real nice.

I started by covering the 4 sides using Stampin Up Rose Red. Then cut out pieces for each side using some great paper from Mothers & Daughters Creations. I created the corners using Stampin Up's ticket punch. I punched (Marvy) the flowers using the M&D paper and Rose Red with a brass brad (Making Memories) in the middle. The cool chick is by Imaginisce and can be found here.

Here is a sample picture of my finished product along side the original box before it was fully assembled.

This came together really quick and I loved how it turned out.

Thanks for looking.

Elegant Flower - SCS Sketch Challenge

I love sketch challenges. Every week SCS has a sketch challenge on Wednesdays. This week was a way to use up scraps. I didn't use scraps, I did take some of the great papers I received from Mothers and Daughters Creations and cut it - GASP! - I did I did. But it's OK, here is what I came up with. Some of my shapes are a little "off" from the original sketch. I really like how this turned out actually. I love this paper, check it out here.

This great little flower is by Imaginisce and I used my Prismacolor markers to color it in and added some Diamond stickles for glitter. The sentiment is again a rub-on from Imaginisce found here.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm trying to get alot of stamping in this week because I have a very busy weekend. With my little people turning 2 and Easter it will be a busy weekend.

Now back to see if the Moose is loose at Hanna Stamps!

Garden Riley Shines

Here he is Garden Riley from Hanna Stamps! Isn't he the cutest? I love these Riley stamps and this week Hanna Stamps will be releasing more, I'm hearing about 15 more Rileys and there may have been a wedding! Check out this awesome thread at SCS with all the sneak peaks.

I've been lurking around Hanna Stamps for some time. And I'm really loving all the images more and more. I admit it I haven't ordered a Hanna set YET but have a couple Rileys and will get more of the new ones. I definitely need to get a Hanna set though. My favorites are: "But I Need It", "Domestic Goddess" and "Getting Physical". Here is the link to all the sets... Now I'm totally enabling myself, but I will wait to see the new Rileys first.

This card was for the Hanna Stamps weekly challenge and it was a sketch challenge. The challenge was to use scallops in your creation. So I pulled out my DCWV scallop pack and went to work. I used Copics to color (I think I'm getting better with it, I even tried to shadow on the watering can, can you tell?). My patterned paper is a DCWV glitter stack pack. The base is Stampin Up's Taken with Teal. The senitment is by Imaginisce found here. The lovely flowers are from those wonderful bridal buckets at Michaels. Remember when Lauren enabled all of us with that find. Wonderful find I might add. Thanks Lauren! Finally, I had to pull out the stickles and add some Christmas Red glitter to his boots and I used the Diamonds glitter for the water drops coming out of the bucket. The flowers also got a shot of red glitter.

Thanks for stopping by!
