A little Mixed Media Fun

Today I wanted to share a mixed media tag I made using stamps from the awesome new company Pretty Cute Stamps!  I received my sets from them just a few days ago and I didn't waste any time getting crafty.

Here is my mixed media tag:

For the background I used a Watercolor technique and a Tim Holtz stencil with distress inks.  The cute eagle is from the set called Little Eagle!  The floral hardware is by Tim Holtz and the dream is just a random piece I found in my stash that I though would work nicely.

CASE(E) this Sketch!

I used a stamp set from a wonderful new stamp company called PRETTY CUTE STAMPS!  Their sets are super cute and I love cute!  I wish I could have gotten the bundle!  Here I used the set called Orange You Awesome!  I super psyched to submit this for the DT call I would love to be a part of this fun new company.

I also purchased a second set from them and created a fun mixed media tag so stay tuned for that creation!

Just Us Girls Challenge

It's time for another Just Us Girls challenge and this time we have some changes.  We are changing things up a bit with our weekly challenges!  NEVER fear we are still going strong and loving it but thought freshening up the challenges is a good idea.  So starting today this is what our monthly lineup will look like:

Since this is week one of the month we will start with word week.  Word week will be just that a single word for your inspiration!  This week I picked "BIRD".  Take that and run with it in any way that inspires you!

Happy 4th of July!

HAPPY 4TH of JULY!

For all those celebrating today I hope you have a happy and safe 4th!  It's always a great day for a BBQ and some fireworks!  

It's also Friday and that means Unity Friends with Flair time!  Over on Facebook at the Unity {show&tell} page there is a 4th challenge going on.  To create using red, white and blue!

CASE(E) this Sketch challenge!

Hey all!

Ok summer is way too hot for me and we've been busy but at the same time laying low a bit so I have had time to do some creating!

Today I played along with CAS(E) this Sketch!  

Here is the sketch:

I played along to make a simple birthday card for a dear friend.

Here is what I came up with using Unity Stamps:

I embossed the top half using a cuttlebug embossing folder and paper pieced the present.  The card stock is SU!

The Mixed Media Card Challenges - Challenge #1

Hey there!

I'm super excited to be a part of this new mixed media blog called The Mixed Media Card Challenges!  Have you seen this post with DT intros?  This is a monthly challenge on the first of each month and it's making cards mixed media style!  I love exploring different styles and ways to create so while I will still make more of the "Traditional" style cards that I have always made I'm happy to dabble in new things as well.

Here is the first challenge with a theme: TOUCH OF NATURE with an optional element of a tag.

Here is what I came up with :

So I love making tags and I started with that first.

I used a butterfly stencil along with Glass Beads mixed with Dylusions sprays with a dash of glitter to create this fun sparkly butterfly.  For the background of the tag I heat embossed in white a Unity Stamp then added Distress inks for a resist effect.  Then I stenciled the butterfly.

 I used my fingers to apply some gel mixed with ink to the background pattern paper :-)

Mixed Media Mojo Challenge #2

I want to THANK EVERYONE who played along with our first challenge at Mixed Media Mojo! I'm super excited with this new blog and hope you will along again! A quick HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to all those celebrating this week!

I started with a 5 x 7 canvas I tried to take a few photos as I progressed to share so here they are:

I started with some basic acrylic paints then did some layering with patriotic papers.  The "prints" you see I found online by searching free 4th of july images.  I just printed them out from my computer.
