Friends with Flair Friday

It's Friday and another Unity Friends with Flair!

Today I wanted to share with you my "Summer Time" journal. This idea sparked from that new "Smash" journal. I saw them at my LSS and thought they were pretty cool but I didn't HAVE to get one! They are coming out with a smash mini that I can't wait to see how small it is.

So I picked up a few of these at Michael's the other day in the $1.50 spot. (yeah can you believe that those baskets of goodies are now $1.50! LOL! )

This adorable comp book measures 6 x 8. And yes it does have this great pattern that looks like ribbons. They had other cool ones as well. Anyhow I decided to take some summery pattern paper by My Little Yellow Bicycle and cover it and I came up with this:

Very simple but I just adore that paper! The rubber band is actually a "Smash" one! On the inside I glued using Mod Podge pages together. I went through the whole book and glued 3 pages together all the way. Then I pulled out all sorts of random papers and added them on the pages to come up with a cool "finished" look. Here are my inside pages. The front cover (left side) has a double pocket and the first page using Unity and {ippity}:

The tape down the middle and on the page is paper tape by 7 Gypsies. I found a bunch of these at AC Moore for 2.00 and they are fabulous to use in this journal to help the spine/seam in the middle.

Here are some more of the pages in random order:

I used a mix of papers Basic Grey, My Little Yellow Bicycle, Memory Box....

Looking for some {ippity}? I have a bunch in my shop TYKAT SUPPLIES! And more to come. If you are looking for a kit I don't have I can order it for you. Free gift with every {ippity} purchase! New release coming July 5th!

Now to see if I use this fun journal to record our summer fun! If I do I might make one for the fall and winter!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls

Just Us Girls is at the 90th challenge this week! Amazing! Can't believe it. We have such wonderful followers and players each week and a fabulous design team!

This week I am hosting the JUGS challenge and challenge is to make a Patriotic 3D project or use a template to using a patriotic theme. To many of us a patriotic theme is the 4th of July and Red, White and Blue. But if you are playing along and you are not in the US please feel free to use the colors that represent your country. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Here is what I came up with:

This is hanging decoration ready for the 4th of July. I started with a piece of chipboard from a chipboard album. I have loads of these saved from Michaels. I covered it with some festive paper and added embellishments. My flowers are Tim Holtz Style roses cut using my Cricut. I wanted to add shine to them so I sprayed some Goosebumps clear texture spray by Tsukineko.

Close up of flowers:

My sentiment image "Summer Time" is embossed in red and from Unity Stamp Co. My heart image is also embossed and that is from the {ippity} line from Unity. I am a Unity endorsed {ippity} chick so feel free to check out my shop HERE. If you are looking for an {ippity} kit I don't have in the shop let me know!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

TGIF! It's Friday and time for Friends with Flair Friday. Today I wanted to share a journal spread. This is in a 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 sized hardbound journal book. I used the awesome Donna Downey Unity flowers called Donna Poppy Bkgrnd. LOVE this stamp so perfect for journals, I can see using this often. Here I went pretty simple with it.

I used a very light pink acryclic paint for the background. I stamped in archival ink. The bottoms "grass" was paper that I cut out. I used Liquitex Acrylic inks to color using a paintbrush the flowers and the grass. The butterflies are paper pieced and are from the {ippity} kit called Now and Always. The sentiment is also from an {ippity} kit called Music of My Heart. And the dots in the "grass" is the Unity background stamps called Polka Dot Jam. Finally I added some stickles to the flowers for some glitzy fun!

So I love how this turned out with the flowers and how I colored the flowers (LOVE those liquitex inks) but of course I still think it needs more. Maybe some journaling would be nice or more awesome Unity sentiment stamps would work. SO, I might have to work on this page some more but wanted to share what I have so far.

If you love {ippity} please stop by my Etsy Shop Tykat Supplies for {ippity} stamps. If you are looking for a kit that I don't' have in the shop be sure to let me know.

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to swing on by the Unity blog today and see who else links up for Friends with Flair Friday!

Till later.....
